Social Isolation & Core Emotional Loneliness

As human beings, our tribal nature requires social connection, and when this is lacking, we naturally languish to the point of genuinely experiencing pain.

Causes, Coping With It, and Getting Help

While we can work on loving ourselves through these challenging times, in the end, there is no avoiding the reality that we need others, too. This can be incredibly challenging if we have been deeply hurt or maltreated by others. For example, bullying can, of course, prompt withdrawal as an attempt at self-preservation. Anxiety and depression, and simply the nature of our lives, overextended by work, can also pose barriers.

Staying Connected

Even if we are not alone, perhaps with many relationships, this can fall short when adequate intimacy is lacking.  Sometimes developing that intimacy can feel elusive and out of reach, but developing skills can help.  At Centered Ground, we invite you to join us in a safe space for this process, focusing on strategies from cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), including radically open DBT. Together, it is possible.
